Get paid while you train with your CDL!
You’ve made the decision to become a truck driver, but now what? Our Class A CDL training program gives you real-world experience and prepares you for anything that could happen on the road. Our Prime Training Program offers new classes that start every week, and it’s never too late to find your calling.
Permit | Prior to Orientation
- Complete a DOT Physical & Drug Test scheduled by your recruiter.
- Obtain DOT Medical Card & Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) in your home state.
- For your CLP, make sure it is “NI-Non Excepted Interstate”.
Orientation
- Attend orientation at a Prime Inc. Facility (Springfield, MO; Pittston, PA; or Salt Lake City, UT.)
- Sign a 1-year contract to drive for Prime Inc.
- Prime provides transportation, 3 meals per day, & hotel accommodations during orientation.
- Experience hands-on, computer based, & simulator training.
CDL Instruction
- Train with a CDL Instructor for 2 to 4 weeks & experience one-on-one instruction to develop the skills needed to pass the Class A CDL Exam.
- Receive a $300 per week loan to spend on food & living costs during this phase of training.
- Loan will be paid back at $35 per week after you earn your CDL until full amount borrowed is paid back.
CDL Exam
- Return to a Prime Inc. Facility to take the final state CDL Exam which includes vehicle inspection, backing skills, & road test.
- Earn a $250 bonus if you pass the CDL Exam on your first try.
- Once you obtain your Class A CDL, you become eligible to be hired on as a company driver or become an independent contractor.
TNT Training
- Obtain the relevant minimum training miles below with a TNT Trainer after earning your CDL.
- Refrigerated Division: 30,000 - 50,000 miles
- Flatbed & Tanker Divisions: 30,000 - 35,000 miles
- *Minimum mileage requirement is based on freight and equipment availability and is subject to change. Once you complete the relevant training miles, you will be eligible for upgrade review. Upgrading into your own truck is based on service, safety, and truck availability.
Become an Independent Contractor

- Standard Lease Option - drive a late-model truck with fixed costs, no credit check, and no money down. No penalties, and receive lease completion incentives.

Seat Class Breakdown
- When joining Prime Inc, you will be assigned a starting seat class based on your experience.
- A Seat - No training mileage required with a Prime Trainer.
- B Seat - Obtain a minimum of 15,000 training miles with a Prime Trainer to become eligible for upgrade.
- B2 Seat - Obtain a minimum of 30,000 training miles with a Prime Trainer to become eligible for upgrade.
- C Seat - Obtain a minimum of 40,000 training miles with a Prime Trainer to become eligible for upgrade.
- Once the minimum mileage goal is met, the trainee will become eligible for review for upgrade. Drivers will be selected for upgrade based on factors including safety, equipment availability, freight demand, service, and performance.
- B1, B2, & C Seats will earn a minimum of $900/week as long as you are available for dispatch until upgrade. If you are at home and available for dispatch, you will be paid $110/day.
All pay amounts listed above are before taxes.
Mileage requirements may vary depending on division choice.
For the Tanker & Flatbed Division, upgrading process includes attendance and
successful completion of relevant Bootcamp/Securement class and testing.
Residents of CA & NJ are not eligible to become independent contractors.
